Company History
1959: Company Founded
Victor J. Julian leaves General Electric and starts the company that would become Julian Electric Service and Engineering Inc.
1959 - 1970: Sales Focus
Julian Electric begins to find it’s footing focusing on special/custom controls work and motor repair.
1970: Company Expands
Kenneth A. Julian, son of Victor, leaves Grumman Aerospace to join Julian Electric.
1970 - 1976: New Departments Formed
1976 - 1980: Facility Expansions
Julian Electric continues to expand in product offers and space. Construction begins on the Blackhawk Drive facility in Westmont, IL to house growing control panel product line. Concurrently, sales begin to rise on wire harnesses, and a new over-molded/sealed JEI battery cable product is developed for Agricultural Equipment and Heavy Truck markets.
1980 - 1987: Company Growth
The new Blackhawk facility sees consistent growth, and Battery Cable division begins important partnerships with Freightliner, Paccar, Mack, Volvo-White and International Harvester. Battery Cable production moved to separate facility in LaGrange, IL in 1986.
1992: John K. Julian Joins firm full-time
1992 - 1997: Another Expansion
Corporate Offices and Battery Cable production moved back to Westmont, IL in new facility at 406 Plaza Drive. Ford HN80 Heavy Truck business anchors newest growth.
1998: Kenneth E. Julian joins firm
1999: Plaza Drive Expansion
15,000 ft. added to Corporate-Battery Cables building to optimize process flow and max out footprint on this site.
2000: Anthony V. Julian joins firm
August 2009: Newest Facility Added
Purchase of 400 Plaza Drive in Westmont, IL to house additional automotive business and specialty products and complete three building Julian campus in Westmont, IL.
May 2010: Launch of Julian Electric de México
To support customers’ Mexican manufacturing facilities as a strategic supplier, Julian Electric expands to Saltillo, México with 40,000 sq ft of manufacturing and office space.
2013: México Plant Expansion
50,000 ft added to Saltillo facility to allow for expansion of automotive programs and support of line sequencing strategies and customer returnable container programs. Julian Electric de México now includes 90,000 sq ft of space, employing 120 people.
2015: México Plant Expansion
30,000 ft added to Saltillo facility; now totaling 120,000 ft and 200 employees.
2017: New U.S. Facility
 Construction completed in May 2017 on new Headquarters in Lockport, IL. 195,000 sq ft houses Julian Electric corporate offices and U.S. Manufacturing.
2020: New Mexico facility
Construction completed September 2020 on new Mexico manufacturing facility in Saltillo, Coahuila. 200,000 sq ft houses battery cable and wire harness manufacturing.
